Yesterday, after about three hours flight with Wizzair (by the way, I hate this company, they asked 30 Euros because we had 2.80 kg over 20 kg which they allowed free of charge to carry with you), we arrived in Loughborough, UK, our new “home” for next 2-3 years. Our parcels which we sent them from germany also arrived. Two of them were sent by UPS, and I was surprised to see that they were like after the second world war (I hate UPS, too). Trying to ask some information about opening a bank account in UK, I came to Barclays Bank. The office worker was very nice at the beginning, but when he saw that we are from Romania, then something went wrong. He asked me for passport, identity card, driver license, and in next 2-3 minutes, he phoned somewhere to verify the documents, and finally told me that maybe is not possible to open an account to Barclays. And, I have to mention that only I wanted to ask some informations regarding what I need to open a bank account, nothing more. So, I have to say, that, I HATE BARCLAYS BANK with their “clever” office workers.

So, the people from DBahn (German National Railways) decided that we have to sleep in Hamburg or Berlin and to continue our trip next day in the morning. We said that we prefer Hamburg, InterCity hotel, near to the main train station, having the possibility to visit the city some hours in the night. Was very nice, the hotel was pleasant, thanks DBahn for this opportunity.

Favicon is a 16×16 bitmap in Microsoft icon resource file format. There are a lot of tools available to create a favicon.ico. I used GIMP, which is available for any linux/unix system or can be downloaded from http://www.gimp.org and can be also used on windows. So, first step is to rescale your image to 16×16 pixels and save your rescaled image in pnm or ppm format. Using the command line utility ppmtowinicon which is part of Netpbm package you can obtain the favicon:

ppmtowinicon -output favicon.ico <inputfile.pnm | inputfile.ppm>

The other method is to use convert command which is part of ImageMagick package. Since almost all Linux distributions install ImageMagick by default, all you need to generate your own favicon.ico is a shell access to a Linux box:

convert file.jpg -resize 16×16! favicon.ico

All you need now is to copy favicon.ico in your web site root folder and add to your webpage next line, to the <head> section:

<link rel=”Shortcut Icon” href=”http://www.yourdomain.com/favicon.ico”>

That’s all.
